Where to start from? First of all, is not a place for everyone. Someone going there must be tired of the empty hospitality business that only represents a bill at the end of the experience. Here you are contributing to something way bigger …
Me and my friends had dinner at Sous le Pont in Reitschule tonight. They served Canarian specialties. Everything was delicious. The papas arrugadas con mojo verde y rojo were my favorite. My friend from Tenerife had the pescado encebollado and it reminded her of home.
If you’re looking for a lively, unpretentions, affordable and extremely alternative place to have a bite in Bärn, go Under the Bridge/Sous le Pont ;) There are always clearly labelled vegan options on the menu (curry, dal, ... for CHF 15-20.00.-) and various small dishes (like a falafel sandwich for CHF 9.00.- or fries for CHF 6.00.-=). And on the first Sunday of the month, they do a vegan brunch (haven’t tried this one yet). Disclaimer: they only accept cash.
Unbelievable place. The food was great. Atmosphere and attention really spot on! Prices really logical and worth for what you receive. Not a place to eat "cheap" but cheaper than the majority. A place to eat good and probably stuff you are not having somewhere else.
Absolutely great!
I had booked based on reviews and some traveler blogs for being a quirky and not very expensive place in Bern. The truth is that they are *completely normal* prices for the Swiss capital (aka expensive) since the menus of the day are 25-35 …
If you don't know the riding school, you'd think you'd get street food here, which isn't true. The food is really great and mostly regional and fair trade/organic. It's not for nothing that even non-alternative national councilors and other politicians eat here. The prices are obviously extremely fair.
If you are Spanish and you have come to this place because you are looking for a cheap place like I was looking for for lunch or dinner in Bern, my advice is to eat a McDonalds hamburger or a good kebab, you will have 50 more euros in your pocket and you will thank me this comment.
